It was that wonderful time of the year when those of us in the know trotted happily along to Christ the King Community Church’s annual Macmillan Coffee Morning for its legendary sweet feast.
As usual, we were greeted with a cake table heaving with sweet treats, where Gill’s irresistible Victoria sponge and gooey chocolate brownies jostled for space with some incredible lemon drizzle, Pastor Ian’s favourite extra-large shortbread, and a vast array of other tempting delights.
But there was more to the morning than treating our taste buds. The coffee mugs were put to one side, safe from small flying balls, as competitors and spectators braced themselves for energetic games of Ponginator and table hockey!
Of course, all the fun was in aid of a very important cause – Macmillan Cancer Support. Macmillan Cancer Support provides a range of hugely valuable services to support people living with cancer and their families.
Thanks to the generosity of all those who attended, we raised an incredible £258 to help fund Macmillan’s work.
Looking forward to next year already!
